Description: Excessive accumulation of gas in the rumen.

Symptoms: Distension of the left flank, breathing difficulty, pain, and discomfort.

Seasonality: Most common when animals graze lush, young grass quickly at the onset of the rainy season or when fed too many legumes.

A sturdy shrub with broad, grey-green leaves, white flowers with purple centres, and latex. Found commonly in overgrazed or waste lands in the Sahel zone.
